There is a Better Way

The rise of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) will herald the eventual delivery of enterprise applications as web-hosted services via a browser. The LogicSource solution enhances this idea to empower clients with new, innovative capabilities through the OneMarket platform – but without the cost normally required for an enterprise investment.

Adding a new technology solution into an enterprise is often met with concern from the business users and the IT team that supports them. Despite the perceived benefits, they are both conditioned to believe that new solutions require significant investments in infrastructure and that upgrades get more costly beyond the first 12-18 months of use.

In the last ten years, however, more and more enterprise applications have become Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, resembling eBay more than ERP.  On eBay, anyone can set up a storefront, build a database of products and do business. This is frequently referred to as a “multi-tenant” solution. Similarly, SaaS solutions enable corporations to simply “rent an apartment” in a pre-existing building versus having to build a structure themselves. This significantly lowers the capital expenditure required as no infrastructure needs to be purchased; spreading the burden across all users as part of the licensing fee. Additionally, subscription costs for SaaS applications remain affordable because they reflect the economies of scale achieved by “multitenancy.” Since many clients are running on the same unit of software, the overall system is scalable at a far lower cost.

According to industry analysts, over the next ten years, virtually all enterprise applications will be delivered as web-hosted services via a browser.

Users get everything necessary to be up and running in as little as 1-3 months, with no break in your ability to collaborate with internal trading partners.

SaaS applications have high adoption rates and are easy to learn as most users regularly use online applications both personally and professionally. SaaS applications have the added benefit of being accessible from any computer or device — any time, anywhere.

SaaS providers constantly monitor how clients use applications, allowing for rapid improvements in usability, performance, and functionality based on direct user data.

Licensed software typically requires clients to wait for the next release to benefit from software updates. With a SaaS application, clients benefit from innovations as soon they appear. There are no patches to download or install, and there’s no need to add hardware, software, or bandwidth as the user base grows.

Any SaaS solution must be independently audited, earning AICPA, WebTrust, PCI, and U.S. Department of Commerce Safe Harbor certifications to ensure all necessary care and security oversight is provided.

When clients subscribe to a SaaS application, fees are charged monthly or annually, a payment structure advantageous for the client. An on-going monthly expense is easier to incorporate into budgets than a large one-time outlay, with the flexibility to cancel or change a subscription at any time without losing a large initial investment.

At LogicSource, we set out to create a different kind of solution: one that requires minimal cost and effort to deploy, while sharing innovation with all its users.

By taking a SaaS approach to developing the OneMarket solution suite, we’ve achieved our goal of empowering clients with new capabilities through a swift, agile implementation without the capital investments normally required for an enterprise solution.
