Giving and Growing: Seven Years Supporting the Boys and Girls Corporate 5K

By Colin Gilmore | Community Outreach

STAMFORD, CT – Thirty-three runners representing ‘Team LogicSource’ hit the streets of Harbor Point in Stamford, CT on May 22, 2019 for the annual Boys and Girls Club Corporate 5K. This was the 7th consecutive year LogicSource has participated, representing one of more than 100 community teams to support the local club.

The race has become a can’t-miss event on the LogicSource corporate calendar each spring, with this year’s team being the largest to date. And while the race and our team have continued to grow each year, so has our business. Since participating in our first Boys and Girls Club 5k in 2013, LogicSource has grown from under 40 full-time employees to over 130, while expanding our offerings to our customers and significantly growing our client base.

Valerie Turchiano, LogicSource Executive Assistant and 5-time racer, noticed a similar parallel between LogicSource’s growth and what the Boys and Girls Club Corporate 5k has become. “It’s great to see how this race and our company have evolved over the years,” Turchiano said. “Both started small, but now show up bigger and stronger every year. The annual corporate 5k remains an eagerly anticipated day on the company schedule. We are already excited for next year’s race!”

In addition to the impressive turnout, ‘Team LogicSource’ produced excellent results, placing 10th among the more than 100 competing teams. Our top runner, Bill Harkawik, finished among the top two-percent of competitors, placing 23rd overall out of 1697 total runners, with Jo Seed and Tom Kealy—LogicSource’s representatives in the Multiple Myeloma Half Marathon in New York City in March—following closely behind him.

The Boys and Girls Club provides children—specifically those most in need—with a safe and healthy environment to learn and grow through a variety of targeted educational and recreational programs.
